There are other online auction sites out there but the simplicity and popularity of eBay makes an eBay business by far and away the best option to start your own business selling online.  

To start an eBay business the first thing you need to do is open an account with eBay and PayPal.

PayPal provide a quick and safe way to transfer money online and eBay will usually only let you register if you have a PayPal account.

Registering with both eBay and PayPal is quick and easy; they will guide you through the process as you sign up.

The beauty of starting a business on eBay is that you can get started with little financial commitment.  If you find a wholesale dropshipper then the only financial outlay you will have to make is the few pence you spend putting your listing up on the eBay site. Then, you don’t need to pay anything else until you make a successful sale. As businesses on a shoestring go, they don’t get much better than that!

Another great advantage of selling online is that you can work as and when it suits you.  If you want to work around another job, or perhaps juggle your new business around childcare, you can do it. No one will know when you have written your listings and an online wholesaler will be open for business 24 hours a day.

(One word of warning though, if you do choose to work late at night it may be best to schedule your listings to start at a different time as they will close at the same time of day as you put them up on eBay and you may lose vital bidders or potential buyers if your auction is due to end at 3.00am in the morning!)
